Believe it or not we found Boston State Hospital completely by accident. We were driving around and across Boston looking for a list of abandoned buildings we compiled to see what the status of them was, after finding that all of them were either now currently active, or under final renovation, we passed by what looked like a building with a partially missing roof. At the time, and until we got home, we thought we had found an unknown state hospital. We returned later down the line to try to stop in and explore, only to find it already in heavy construction.
